Before I blog about week one of the book I figured I'd share some stuff out of the book that you may find helpful if you don't have the book and you just want to use the scripture I post along with the questions and prayers in my personal answers and thoughts. This book isn't about how to fix your husband I'll probably say this over and over again, and I don't do this repetitively to be silly or a pain I just do this because if someone happens to step in in the middle of all my blogs I just want them to know this isn't a users guide on how to fix your husband. I do urge everyone to buy the book and to buy the study guide and if you can get a group of other wives together and maybe go through it together cause you never know where someone might have something that is valuable to share with you. If nothing else you could have each other to lean on.This book basically is a 30 week plan so your going to have to make a 30 week commitment to first and foremost God, yourself, your husband and your marriage. In the book it talks about praying scripture over your husband and if your like me your thinking how on earth do I pray scripture over my husband. So I will post the example in the book right here so you can see how the author worded her's.
The scripture that the author used was Ephesians 1:17,18 this is how the scripture reads:17. That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18. The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.
Now the sample prayer that was shown in the book goes as following:
Lord, I pray that you, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, will give to ***** the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You, so that the eyes of ****'s understanding will be enlightened: so that ***** will know what is the hope of his calling, that **** will know what are the riches of the glory of your inheritance in the saints. ( of course where the **** you'd insert your spouses name but that's just an example). As I said I put this in here because I knew when I heard the term praying scripture over someone I had no clue how to or where to start. Granted there is no set formula for prayer. My husband does believe in God he goes to church with me and the family yet I know he hasn't given his heart to the Lord, I know he isn't leading the Godly life I'd like to see him lead, granted I fall short many times. I worried though about this but 1 Corinthians 7:14 tells us: For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy. The book also reminds us that most important prayer as well go through this book is the one that our husband's eyes be opened to the truth of God and he be led to receive Jesus as his Savior. Our roles as wives are to become our husbands intercessor and pray for him.
